The nearest airport is the Ipoh Airport ( Sultan Azlan Shah Airport )
Air Asia Airlines & Scoot Airlines flies Singapore - Ipoh 20 times a week, so this would be a very quick option for those who are coming in from Singapore. Tickets are very cheap if you book early.
Ipoh To Cameron Highlands Distance & Route.
There are 2 driving routes to Cameron Highlands from Ipoh. The first route is via Route 185 and 59 (this route has no tolls): Ipoh > Kampung Raja > Brinchang > Tanah Rata > Ringlet.
The second route is via Lebuhraya Utara - Selatan/AH2/E1 and Route 59 (this route has tolls)
Both routes are prone to landslides during the rainy season. It’s safer to travel in the daytime rather than in the evenings since heavy rains usually occur.
You’ll also need to be on high alert all the time when turning bends. These get progressively narrower as you go higher up.
For the first route (via Simpang Pulai) is less windy and slightly shorter.
But you do get to stop by a local hotspot, the beautiful Lata Iskandar waterfall on your way up if you go for second route. Beware of speed limit.
